What Your Managers Need Most: Cadence, Clarity, Coaching

Managers don’t fail because they’re bad people. They fail because they’re unsupported.

Most managers need three things:

  • Cadence: a predictable rhythm for priorities and problem-solving
  • Clarity: clear standards and decision rights
  • Coaching: feedback that makes them better, not smaller

If your managers are stuck firefighting, that’s not a personality issue. That’s a system issue.

What to do this week

  • Implement a weekly manager meeting with a scorecard and issues list.
  • Define what decisions managers can make without you.
  • Schedule one coaching conversation per manager per week (15 minutes).
